According to Live Darts, MvG posted an average of 100.95, finding 55 per cent of his doubles in a convincing display.Wade was completely out of form as he collapsed against Green, with the Machine faltering at every turn in his opener.The 34-year-old shares Group C with Taylor, but with the top two men going through, Wade still has the chance to progress.The Aldershot-born talent did not settle at the oche, and Green swept to victory with surprising ease.Van Barneveld will be a threat later in the competition, with the former world champion displaying good poise and measure.Barney has struggled with his stamina in recent competitions, but the veteran appeared in top shape as he beat Montgomery in Group A.

Montgomery took the first leg, but the Dutch legend registered five in a row to win.

Per Live Darts, Van Barneveld recorded an average of 98.77, proving too good for his opponent.The nature of the tournament is that the winners of the first two group matches will face off on Sunday, as will the losers, giving some players a chance to seal a spot in the last 16 or leave some facing elimination.Saturday’s dramatic opening day means Wright, James Wade, Simon Whitlock and Danny Noppert will need to chalk up victories to keep alive their hopes of progressing in the tournament.
